Seven Cumberland County Republicans want to make it onto the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners and are battling each other in the 2024 GOP primary for the three seats that serve Dist. 2.

The hottest Cumberland County race in the March 5 primary may be the Democratic battle for House Dist. 42, where four candidates are striving for the nomination to replace retiring state Rep. Marvin Lucas of Spring Lake.

Come Tuesday, two Republican candidates will face off in the primary for North Carolina’s U.S. House Dist. 9: political newcomer Troy Tarazon and incumbent Rep. Richard Hudson (R-9), who has represented the district since 2013.
