Grow your best tomatoes with help from the library

Spring is here, and with the threat of frost receding as the days grow longer, tomato lovers start to dream of summer. Slicing a big juicy heirloom tomato for a sandwich or snacking on sweet cherry tomatoes in between pulling weeds are the dreams of gardeners across Cumberland County as they tend their seedlings.

Photographs that capture the story of change in the world are on display in “Reformation: Solo Photography Exhibition & Film Screening,” an exhibit opening Saturday at the Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County. The exhibit will be open through April 30 at the Arts Center, 301 Hay St., according to a news release.

Cumberland County Schools will host a “kindergarten showcase” to introduce incoming kindergarten students and their families to the elementary school environment.

Tickets are still available for CityView’s Ladies’ Night Out, an evening of food and beverages, shopping, health demonstrations, a fashion show and more. The Fayetteville Fire Department will celebrate Sparky’s birthday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Honeycutt Park. Activities for all ages will include story time with Sparky, a bounce house, face painting and live music.
