Arts Council launches grants providing capital support for cultural groups

Posted

The Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County has launched a pilot grant program to support nonprofit organizations focused on the arts, culture and history, according to a news release.

The Capital Project Grant program will support small to medium-size capital projects for nonprofits in Cumberland County. The funding can be used to acquire, construct, remodel, repair, and maintain facilities used by the organizations, the news release said.

“In my short tenure at the Arts Council, one of the chief requests our staff has heard from our grantee partners in the community is the need for capital support. We are listening,” said Michael Curtis Houck, director of grants and allocations. “This new grant initiative is a commitment to help our community’s cultural nonprofits thrive by directly addressing root capital needs.”

Program guidelines can be reviewed at Arts Council capital projects website. Projects must be completed between January and June 2023. A letter of intent must be submitted before Jan. 9, the news release said.

The grant initiative is funded in part by the North Carolina Arts Council through American Rescue Plan funds and in part by the Cumberland County occupancy tax, the release said.
