Become a ‘plant whisperer’ and add beauty to your home

The use of plants to add color and vibrancy to interiors has been on the rise for some years now, and that trend doesn’t seem to be fading anytime soon. In fact, the biophilic home decor trend has been forecasted to continue to reign in 2022. This trend embraces a nature-based approach to architecture and interior design, which means we will be seeing lots of plants in residential spaces this year.

Studies show that interaction with indoor plants may reduce psychological and physiological stress by suppressing autonomic nervous system activity.

An indoor garden can offer a place of refuge and a place to unwind from the stressors of the outside world. (Our indoor garden in the sunroom certainly makes me happy and is a joyful and calming environment.) Whether you live in a small apartment or a large house, by introducing certain plants into your home you will start to notice improvements to your health and overall happiness. As well as enhancing your mood and creating a living space that is soothing to be in, surrounding yourself with plants is a great way to improve your self-care. It’s especially gratifying to tend to them and watch them grow and flourish.

They not only purify the air but can also be quite decorative and sculptural. Decorating with plants is another way to accessorize your home, and they are relatively inexpensive. You can have one big plant or a grouping of smaller plants. Really, how you choose to decorate with plants is up to you and your aesthetic, but the possibilities are endless. Cleverly placed plants can hide or at least minimize unattractive room features like pipes and computer cords. It is not uncommon to see plants being used to hide an unsightly radiator!

As home accessories, plants can give a fresh look to an interior, and summertime is especially perfect for decorating with plants as they are at their perkiest, and there is an array of plants available to buy. Which plants you select should depend on where you live, how much time you want to devote to them, and what effect you want to create.
