FAST will host a jobs fair for bus drivers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the NCWorks Career Center, 490 N. McPherson Church Road.

Fayetteville Area System of Transit says in a news release that ideal candidates have a valid North Carolina Class B commercial driver’s license; six months of experience operating buses or similar equipment; a good driving record; and a current medical card from the N.C. Department of Transportation. 

Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with FAST staff members, hear a pre-employment overview, and have on-the-spot interviews. Candidates are urged to visit the Employment with the City of Fayetteville webpage to complete an application online before the fair to expedite the process, the release said. However, candidates can apply in person the day of the fair. 

FAST offers competitive pay, paid holidays, benefits, a 401k retirement plan, overtime opportunities, and a $1,000 sign-on bonus, the release said. 

“FAST is transitioning to a choice mode of transportation for individuals in the Fayetteville area and is currently seeking bus operators ready to help us achieve greatness” said Compliance Manager Tiera Daugherty. “We partnered with NCWorks in an effort to connect with individuals in the Fayetteville area seeking new career opportunities.”

Social Services seeking candidates for child services positions

The Cumberland County Department of Social Services is seeking applicants to fill social work positions in the Children’s Services Division.

Priority positions at are social workers in the foster care, foster care teen, and adoptions units as well as in the investigative assessments, family assessments and treatment/in-home units of the Children’s Services Division.

The jobs require a degree in social work or human services field, including sociology, psychology, counseling and criminal Justice.

“We are very passionate about assisting children and families, believe in the value of teamwork, and have an invested interest in our community,” said Delores Long, Children’s Services Division director.
