CityView News Fund celebrates first anniversary!

Posted

CityView News Fund is celebrating its first anniversary on Tuesday, March 14.

Donate today to help them celebrate!

CityView would like to thank the Cumberland County community for its support on this journey. Last year, we weres were able to get the City Council meetings at the FAST Transit Center open to the press and the public. Our investigative reporter has uncovered stories on the proposed sale of the Public Works Commission and the continuing issues with Chemours and the “forever chemicals’’ that have been emitted from the plant into the air and the Cape Fear River. Our award-winning efforts have been recognized by the N.C. Press Association.  CityView also recently hired a government accountability reporter, Ben Sessoms.

This year, we have even bigger plans. CityView wants to expand news coverage to underreported segments of our community like education, health care and Fort Bragg. We also are in the process of starting an internship program with our local universities to help cultivate future journalists.

CityView is committed to making local news available to everyone in our community, but we need your help. A gift to the CityView News Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, helps  with our mission. CityView needs the support of people like you who also believe this work is worth investing in.

You can help us celebrate the CityView News Fund anniversary by donating today or answering this one-minute survey. Their goal is to raise $5,000 by March 14.

Every donation — whether it’s $10 or $100 — helps us toward our goals.

Help create a more informed community.
