County, city offices and services to observe New Year’s holiday

County and city offices will be closed Monday for the New Year’s holiday.

The court system also will be closed Monday. The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners will hold its first meeting of 2023 on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

All Cumberland County public libraries and Cumberland County Animal Services will be open for normal hours on Saturday, the county said in a release

The Cumberland County Solid Waste Ann Street and Wilkes Road landfills and container sites will be closed Saturday but will be open Monday, the release said. All landfills and container sites will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Here are details about the city’s New Year’s holiday schedule:

Police Department: The front lobby and records unit of the main police station at 467 Hay St. will be closed Monday.

Solid Waste Division:  Monday’s garbage and yard waste will be collected on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Recycling will be collected as scheduled on Monday.

Fayetteville Regional Airport: The airport’s administrative offices will be closed Monday. All other airport operations will continue as regularly scheduled. Questions about travel and/or flight schedules should be directed to the individual airlines.  

Fayetteville Area System of Transit: FAST will not operate on Sunday, New Year's Day. It will resume normal operating hours on Monday.

Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation:  Administrative offices will be closed Monday. Recreation centers will operate on an abbreviated schedule of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday. Trails and open green space areas will remain open and accessible to the public.  

City offices will reopen and operate on regular business hours on Jan. 3. The Fayetteville City Council has a work session scheduled for 5 p.m. that day.
