The Fayetteville Police Department is asking for help identifying a man they say robbed a gas station at gunpoint last week.

The robbery happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 14 at a gas station on the 2300 block of Owen Drive, police said in a release.

A clerk was ringing up items for a man. When the register opened, the man pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, police said. The clerk complied and the man ran away, police said.

The man was approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall, had a slender build and was wearing a black ski mask, black sweatshirt and vest, light blue jeans, and white and black sneakers, police said.

Officers searched the area with a K9 unit but were unable to locate the man.

Police provided an image of the man from surveillance footage and are asking the public for help in identifying and locating him, a release said.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Detective M. O’Hara at 910-605-6393 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
