Posted

The Fayetteville Police Department is making the public aware of a possible stalking incident after officers said a man followed a girl from her school bus stop to her home and tried to gain entry.

Officers were called to the area of Bravery Lane off Old Wilmington Road on Thursday in reference to an unknown man who appeared to be stalking a girl.

The girl told police that just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, she noticed a suspicious man near her school’s bus stop. As she exited the bus and began walking home, the man began following, police said in a release.

The juvenile reached her home safely; however, the man began kicking on the door and tried to influence the girl to allow him entry, police said.

The man is described as 35 to 45 years old with a husky build. He was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a ski mask.

The Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man. It is also reminding people, particularly women, to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings when walking or traveling alone.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact investigator S. Roldan at 910-354-7621 or Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
