Four people were displaced by a fire late Monday afternoon at the Briarwood Apartments off Owen Drive, the Fayetteville Fire Department said.
Firefighters from the Fayetteville Fire Department and the Cumberland Road Fire Department were dispatched to a unit on Briar Circle around 5:30 p.m. where they found heavy smoke showing from a second-floor apartment, the department said in a release. The building was evacuated.
Fire crews were still on the scene early Monday evening conducting salvage and overhaul operations.
The American Red Cross was contacted to help the four people displaced by the fire. Damage was estimated at $45,000.
