Katharina “Katie” Hunter,96, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2022 after a brief illness. She is now rejoicing in heaven

Katie was born to George and Katherina Weber in Neudorf, Germany on September 16, 1926. She was predeceased by her husband, Graham Hunter, and her grandson, Troy Dempster.

Katherina is survived by her daughters Inge (Edwin) Winters of Germany, Carol Hinton and Linda (Jessie) Johnson of Fayetteville. Also, by her 6 grandchildren, Weylin, Jeremy, Hal, Dalton, Kersten, Christian and 8 great grandchildren.

She was affectionately called Oma and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved everyone she met and had a unique way of making you feel special.  She would never say goodbye but only “love you”.

Oma’s greatest love was get-togethers with the family for special events and holidays. The grandkids would always enjoy the stories she would tell of her life. Her biggest joy was her love for the Lord. She was the strongest prayer warrior and through all of life her faith in God never wavered.

Katie’s family will welcome friends from 9:30 to 10:30am on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.  Her funeral service will follow at 10:30am in the chapel, officiated, by Rev. Dr. John Hedgepeth.  The service will conclude with a burial at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please donate to her favorite charity, Feed the Children, or a charity of your choice.

Services are entrusted to Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
