Larry Wayne Allman, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Larry was born in Cabarrus County, N.C., on Aug. 21, 1950, to the late Ralph Calvin Allman and Hilda Stamey Allman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Hardie Allman; daughter, Carry Jayne Allman; and brother, Michael Allman.

There are many loved ones who will cherish his memory including Gina Douglas, his significant other with whom he has enjoyed traveling and life with; daughter, Slynda Ameri (John); and two grandchildren, Gina’s daughter, Melissa Casler (Kyle) and three grandchildren; stepchildren, Donna Southers (Gene), Rick Stephens (Donna), Ken Stephens; and Lisa McGee (Troy). There are 13 stepgrandchildren and 13 stepgreatgrandchildren; siblings, Danny Allman (Brenda) Linda Allman, Judy Gwaltney, Wanda McClamrock (Robert), Terry Allman, and Sandra Hearne.

Growing up, Larry attended West Corinth Baptist Church in Mooresville, N.C., where he accepted Christ and was baptized. His faith in eternal life in heaven gives us the assurance and comfort that all is well with his soul. He is completely healed and rejoicing.

Larry was a licensed electrician who, in July 1983, opened Allman Electric Corp. in Fayetteville. Adhering to the motto, “First in Service, Second to None,” the company grew steadily and soon won the respect and admiration of local builders and contractors.  “Honest and hard-working” were the adjectives used most often to describe Larry Allman.

Larry was humbled and honored to be initiated as a member of the Fellowship of the Silver Spoon at Methodist College, which recognizes individuals who, although not born to wealth and status, exemplify the American dream of success, not as the result of birth and station, but of hard work and clear thinking.

Getting family and friends together to sing Karaoke in the game room was a common event.  Everyone, including Larry, had their favorites and enjoyed entertaining the group.
A favorite hobby for Larry was woodworking, and he usually had several projects going on in his shop.  He enjoyed creating cheeseboards and unique birdhouses to give to people. He also designed and built several book libraries for the Little Free Library organization.

Larry had a love for animals and great sense of humor. When he met Gina, she had two dogs named Snap and Crackle.  Larry was called Pop by the kids and grandkids, so he fit right in.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, 500 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, with the Rev. Chip Grammer officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. with interment following the service at Lafayette Memorial Park West.
