A Fayetteville man has been charged with 12 vehicle break-ins on Village Drive near Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Since early March, multiple vehicle break-ins had been reported in the 3400 block of Village Drive, prompting an investigation by detectives, according to a news release.
The detectives worked with security officers at the medical center to identify the culprit.
About 2:30 a.m. March 20, someone reported seeing a man breaking into a vehicle in the area, the release said.
An investigating officer arrested Christian N. Hammonds, 22, of Fayetteville, and charged him with 12 counts of breaking into a motor vehicle; larceny of a firearm; possession of a stolen firearm; seven counts of possession of stolen property; and seven counts of misdemeanor larceny, the release said.
Hammonds was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $17,500 secured bond.
