Mildred Jones Guy, 96, of Fayetteville ,passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Born in Nash County on Nov. 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Jones and Rella Strickland Jones..

She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Honorable Charles Lee Guy Jr.; her first-born, Natalie Mae Guy; her sisters, Peggy Stallings and Faye Jones Gardner; and brothers, Carvey Jones, Bobby Ross Jones, and Tommy Jones.

Mildred was a 1944 graduate of Nashville High School, where she was an all-star basketball player. She was a devoted member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Our dad was a great man and our mom was a silent strength and person who really kept our family grounded. Her tremendous work ethic, being raised on a Nash County tobacco farm the oldest of eight siblings, was something she instilled in all of us. She was our rock and will be dearly missed. 

Mildred leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Alyce Guy Horne; Betsy Guy Horner and husband, Jackie; Richard Jones Guy of Fayettevill;, and  Robert Lee Guy of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kim Horne Molnar and husband, Karl; Stephanie Horne Barefoot and husband, Ronnie Paul; Gary Horne Jr. and wife, Karen; Jacqueline Horner Shankar and husband, Chetan, Robert Horner and wife, Jessica, Mackenzie Leigh Guy; Catherine Guy Nagy and husband, Ryan; and Trey Guy; 13 great-grandchildren;, sister, Rachael Jones Carpenter; and brother, Robbie Jones and wife, Lynn. 

The family will greet friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Blake Benge officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, N.C.
