Murder-suicide takes lives of two 18-year-olds, police say

Woman shot dead on Carlos Avenue on Wednesday morning

An 18-year-old woman was shot to death by an 18-year-old man who later died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The shooting was reported about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 3700 block of Carlos Avenue, according to a news release. 

The woman was identified as Tatiana Haywood, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter was identified as Nasir Scott, 18. He was taken to the hospital with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead there. 

Authorities said the shooting of Haywood does not appear to be a random incident.
