A Hope Mills man was killed in a Thursday night shooting on Lawndale Street, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting at 7:18 p.m. A man with a gunshot wound was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
The Sheriff’s Office on Friday identified the man as 40-year-old Carlos Runquiz Whitted of Hope Mills.
