A staff report
The Cumberland County Board of Education scheduled three public forums this week as it considers closing T.C. Berrien Elementary School.
If the school board moves forward with that proposal, students at T.C. Berrien would be reassigned to other schools in the district, school officials have said. The reassignment of those students could impact schools in the T.C. Berrien area and possibly other schools in the district, school officials said in a news release.
The school system has scheduled three meetings to hear from the public. The first meeting was Monday night at Douglas Byrd Middle School. The other meetings are:
Public Forum 3: Thursday, 6 p.m. at Ferguson-Easley Elementary School, 1857 Seabrook Road. For T.C. Berrien, Lucile Souders, Ferguson-Easley, Glendale Acres, Ashley, Walker-Spivey, Alma Easom, Vanstory Hills, Luther "Nick" Jeralds and R. Max Abbott families.
