About 13,000 Fayetteville PWC customers were without power Friday night after storms moved through Cumberland County, the utility said.
PWC crews responded to multiple outages. Areas along Ramsey Street in north Fayetteville were reporting the highest number of outages, PWC said in a release.
By late Friday night, power had been restored to more than 12,000 customers, the utility said in a release.
At 11 p.m., the PWC outage map indicated just under 900 customers were without power.
The storms that moved through the area knocked down power lines and closed several roads.
By 10:36 pm, crews had restored power to the majority of customers along the Ramsey Street corridor, the utility said. Crews continued restoration efforts, including replacing multiple utility poles damaged during the storm.
Around 7:30 p.m., the Fayetteville Police Department said downed power lines forced the closure of Skibo Road between Cliffdale Road and Chason Ridge Drive. That’s about the time the PWC reported its largest number of outages.
Ramsey Street from Kings Creek Drive to Shawcroft Road was also closed in both directions while PWC crews worked to repair damaged poles and restore power, the Police Department said. As of 10:30 p.m., there was no estimate on how long the road would be closed.
