Report of shooting at Jack Britt High School was false, Sheriff’s Office says

A 911 call reporting that students had been shot at Jack Britt High School on Thursday morning proved false, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, the call was received at 8:31 a.m. Thursday. The caller said that students had been shot at the school, which is at 7403 Rockfish Road.

Investigators said there was never a threat or a shooting at the school Thursday morning.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the report, including the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Fayetteville Police Department, Hope Mills Police Department, and others, the news release said.

Also responding were Cumberland County Schools officials and Holmes Security Systems, the release said. 

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the call.
