Retired Col. Alfred Cliette was born on June 4, 1927, to Richard and Minne Cliette of Detroit, Michigan. The husband of Lucile Alison Cliette was called to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, March March 22, 2023.

Alfred was a retired Army officer of 35 years. He was involved in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. Alfred was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in the Army in Korea. Alfred was selected to attend Officer Candidate School and was commissioned second lieutenant. He served in Military Intelligence and as instructor and training officer, operations officer, commanding officer for Operation Over-strength and retired as commander of 77th ARCOM, Fort Totten. He was awarded the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Cluster, and Army Commendation Medal with cluster. After his retirement, Alfred volunteered as community services coordinator for the city of Southfield, Michigan, Probation Department for 20 years.

Alfred attended the University of Michigan, majoring in engineering. He was a member of the Southfield Optimist Club as well as The Greater Detroit Optimist Club as both member and board member.

He is survived by his sons, Keith Cliette (Kathleen Quinlivan) and Alfred Kitchen; grandchildren, Maeve Alison, Liam Alfred, Nora Francis Quinlivan-Cliette of Brighton, Michigan, and Ron Kitchen; nephew, Michael Cliette (Tryna) and Kyle Holmes; nieces, Kimberli Holmes-West and Jacqueline Cliette; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
