Myles Elwood Swain, 89, of Fayetteville, NC passed away at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on August 20, 2022.
Myles was born on June 22, 1933, in Coldwater, Michigan to Daisy (Leeder) and Edwin Swain. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John E and Keith E Swain, his son, Myles J Swain.
Myles is survived by his wife of over 60 yrs., Sylvia J (Fields) Swain; daughter, Dany Swain Roberson of Douglasville, GA; sons, Michael K. Swain of Roanoke, VA, Donald Robert Baetz (Deborah) of Marysville, Ohio, Sean E Swain of Fayetteville, NC.
Grandchildren, Taron, Ashton, Jolene, Joshua, Cameron and two wonderful young men that called him Grandpa, Joseph Jones and Jacob Beatz McCormick and many Great Grandchildren, Sister-in-law’s, Cherie Swain, Lois Fields Branham, and Dorita Fields Reyen (David), his nieces, Shila Swain Boes, and Marsha Swain, nephews, Brian Swain (Heather), Jordan Swain (Julian). And Jason Swain (Jessica).
Myles retired from the Army, traded one uniform for another by joining the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. Upon retiring a second time, he bought a Gold-Wing Motorcycle, hooked a small trailer to it. He and Sylvia did a lot of traveling across country, went to Rallies and joined the local chapter of Gold-Wing riders. Myles’ goal was to ride in all the lower 48 states. Shortly after reaching his goal, he retired his bike, to spend more time with the Grandchildren. His greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren. He always had a story to tell you. He was a fun-loving man, a good buddy to all that knew him especially to his loving wife.
Myles was cremated. A celebration of life will be held at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 2 PM, with Dr. Jeff Nivens officiating. The family will greet friends prior the service from 1 to 1:45 PM.
