Mr. Robert Samuel “Sam” Williams Jr., 78, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Sam was born April 20, 1945, in Fayetteville to the late Robert Samuel Williams and Don Geddie Sessoms Williams. He graduated from Central High School in Eastover, Class of 1963. He then attended Methodist College and graduated in 1968. He served in the N.C. National Guard from 1963 to 1969.
Sam worked for the Social Security Administration in Fayetteville from 1968 to 1999. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and the Williams Fellowship Bible Class. He was in the Chancel Choir for more than 20 years. When he was younger, Sam enjoyed playing both golf and bridge.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Highland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chip Stapleton presiding. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Sam is survived by his wife of 49 years, Myrtle Grace Williams; two children, Michael Thomas Wilson and Manda Grace Parrous (Nick); four grandchildren, Talia Parrous, Maiya Parrous, Hunter Wilson, and Peter Parrous; two brothers, Randy Williams (Georgia) and Ronnie Williams (Joan); and a sister, Robin Runion.
