Senior Democrats to host candidate forum for mayor, City Council races

Cumberland County Senior Democrats will host a forum with candidates for Fayetteville mayor and City Council at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 in the Pate Room of Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane.

The Cumberland County Democratic Party, Democratic Women of Cumberland County and Young Democrats of Cumberland County are assisting with the forum, according to a news release.

Municipal elections are nonpartisan, and all candidates have been invited to the forum, according to the release. Mayoral candidates and those for contested council seats will answer questions from members of Senior Democrats and the audience.

Uncontested candidates will be given an opportunity to speak as well.

Early voting in the primary election will be at the Board of Elections Office, 227 Fountainhead Lane. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 21-22, Sept. 25-29, and Oct. 2-6 and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 7, the release said.

The Fayetteville municipal primary is set for Oct. 10, with voting from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. local polling places.
