Spring Lake man arrested in September shooting death on Belhaven Road


A Spring Lake man has been arrested and charged with murder in the September death of a man on Belhaven Road in Fayetteville.

Jamal Robinson, 27, was arrested Thursday by members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and Hope Mills Police Department, according to a news release.

Robinson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jermaine Hailey on Sept. 26, the release said.

He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with no bond. His first appearance in court was set for Friday, the release said.

The shooting was reported about 11:50 p.m. Sept. 26 in the 2600 block of Belhaven, the Sheriff’s Office said in a release. 

Deputies found Hailey with multiple gunshot wounds, and he died at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators have said the shooting was not a random act.
