Tom K. Poulos, 78, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, in Fayetteville, NC surrounded by his loving family by his side. Born in Agrinion, Greece on June 10, 1944, to the late Kostas and Argiro Poulos.
Tom arrived in Fayetteville, NC, in 1968, where he began his career in the restaurant business with his late brother, Pete Poulos. In 1972, he married his beautiful bride, Maria, in Athens, Greece. Together with his bride, they moved to Fayetteville, NC where they raised their three children. Tom fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own restaurant when Pizza Palace #2 was opened in May 1983. Tom was an active member in the Greek community, volunteering in multiple Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church fundraisers, an active member in AHEPA as well as in the Velouchi chapter. Tom served and fed the Fayetteville community for over 40 years and was loved by all who met him.
He was preceded in death by his older brother, Pete, and his sisters, Froso and Anna.
Tom is survived by his wife, Maria; his son and his son’s wife, Deno and Crystal (Fayetteville, NC); his daughter and her husband, Loula and Stefanos (Pembroke Pines, FL); his son and his son’s wife, Stathis and Annie (Raleigh, NC); his grandchildren, Thanasis, Stella, Pantelis, Maria, Thanasis and Alexia; his sister and his brother-in-law, Marina and Tommy Frangakis and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation and Trisagion (or Viewing) will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 10:00am to 11:00am. A Funeral Service will be held at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 614 Oakridge Avenue, Fayetteville, NC 28305, at 11AM on Thursday, October 6, 2022, with Fr. Alexander Papagikos officiating. Burial immediately following the funeral service at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.Luncheon will be served at the Hellenic Center after the Burial.
