Here are this week's high school athletes of the week.
Jayda Angel, Cape Fear, basketball
In her first two games this season, Angel scored 29 points against Red Springs and 20 against Green Level. In the two contests she had totals of 20 rebounds, nine assists, 14 steals and three blocks. The Colts won both games.
Landon Sargent, Cape Fear, wrestling
Sargent competed in the Jim Key Invitational at Green Hope High School over the weekend. He went 4-0 in the 215-pound class. He won all his matches with pins in the first period, three in less than a minute and the fourth in 1:39. It was the most pins in the least time of all the weight class winners. He scored 28 of Cape Fear’s 118 points. His career record is 78-11 with 72 pins.
Other nominee was Izaiah Williams, Terry Sanford, football.
