Calling all local authors: Showcase your literary talent, connect with others

Posted

Are you an aspiring author looking for an opportunity to showcase your literary talents? Applications are now open for Cumberland County Public Library’s annual Local Authors’ Showcase.

The program offers an incredible platform for you to network, promote and sell your work, as well as connect with fellow authors and writing communities.

The Local Authors Showcase will be held at noon Oct. 7 at the Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. It provides the perfect opportunity to meet your neighbors who write and learn about their books.

The Cumberland County Public Library’s long-standing group for writers and authors, Write On, Right Now (WORN), will also have a table at the showcase. WORN members will be on hand with information about their group, as well as library resources for indie authors.

The application period for the showcase runs through Sept. 1. To apply, simply visit cumberland.lib.nc.libguides.com/authors. Please note that applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to submit your application early and secure your spot at this exciting experience.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to be a part of the Local Authors’ Showcase. Take the first step toward connecting with fellow writers, gaining exposure and sharing your literary passion with the community.

The showcase is just one of the ways the library works to support the local writing community. Headquarters Library is also home to CCPL’s Local Author Collection, a noncataloged selection of books written by local writers. It’s a treasure trove of books written by our talented neighbors.

Whether or not you plan to participate in the showcase, if you’re a resident of the Sandhills region with a published book we encourage you to explore this collection and consider contributing a copy of your own work. It presents an exceptional opportunity to gain exposure and have your book featured alongside works by other local authors.
