Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, Methodist University team for health expo

Posted

Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation and Methodist University will partner for the 2023 Step Up 4 Health and Wellness Expo. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 15 in Duggins Soccer Stadium on the Methodist campus.

This is the second year for the expo, which evolved from the foundation’s longtime community event called Ribbon Walk. Last year, it was held at Festival Park and drew 750 participants and more than 60 vendors, according to a news release.

In its new location, the expanded expo will include a 4k and a 1-mile race through campus, as well as more activities. Participants can join as teams or individuals. Teams are encouraged for local business employees, running clubs, churches, community groups, and sorority and fraternity groups, and in honor or remembrance of a loved one.

The early-bird registration fee to run or walk is $25 for adults or $20 for children younger than 12 through March 15. There is no cost or registration needed to attend the Wellness Expo. All registered participants will receive a T-shirt. To register, go to www.cfvfoundation.org/stepup4health.

After the kick-off at 10 a.m., the Wellness Expo will feature information booths on many Cape Fear Valley Health services as well as food trucks, music and sponsor tables. Participants can learn about hands-only CPR and get free wellness checks.

Participants in the 4k or 1-mile routes can choose Friends of the Cancer Center as the beneficiary of their registration fee. Runners and walkers can also choose to support Children’s Services, the Community Alternatives Program, Cumberland County Medication Access Program or Heart Care.

Sponsorships are also available, which include a booth at the expo. For more information on sponsorships, contact Kristen Carpenter at 910-615-1514 or ksellan@capefearvalley.com.
