HOPE MILLS — The architect for the town’s new public safety building is expected to ask for another $43,000 from the Board of Commissioners.
Scott Garner will present the request at the board’s meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall. Because of the Juneteenth holiday, the board’s regular Monday meeting was moved to Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda are public hearings on two zoning cases.
One is an initial zoning of 11.4 acres at 507 S. U.S. 301 to a light industrial district.
The second is a contiguous annexation of 2.3 acres belonging to Fayetteville (Chickenfoot) WW LLC at the intersection of Corporation Drive and Chickenfoot Road.
Anyone who wishes to speak during the public hearing or during the public-comment session is asked to sign up 15 minutes before the meeting with the town clerk. Comments should be limited to three minutes.
On the board’s consent agenda is a budget amendment for a contractually required payment to Stoney Point Fire Department. According to a memo from interim Town Manager Chancer McLaughlin, the department has had a full-time contract since 2019 and went from a formula-based amount to a flat rate. In the first year of that change, the town missed the payment.
“Since the discovery of this missed payment, we are submitting a budget amendment for the $70,000 so that the payment can be made in the current budget year,” wrote McLaughlin.
Lastly, the board is expected to formally approve the final version of the fiscal 2023-24 budget as determined on June 5. Hard copies will be provided to board members, and a copy will be placed in the Luther Boardroom and posted on the town’s website.
