A Fayetteville man is accused of firing at police officers when they responded to a call at a hotel on the 2000 block of Cedar Creek Road early Friday.

A bullet entered an adjacent hotel room where a family was staying, but no one was injured, Fayetteville police said in a release.

Officers were dispatched to the hotel in reference to shots being fired just after 1:20 a.m.

When officers arrived, they determined that a man in one of the rooms was firing a weapon multiple times.

“While officers were investigating the incident they were fired upon by the suspect who was still inside his hotel room,’’ the release said. “Officers did not return fire and took the suspect into custody without incident.’’

No injuries were reported.

Police identified the suspect as Ondrilleis Malloy Jr., 25, of the 1100 block of Waddell Street.

He was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear and possession of a firearm by a felon, police said in the release.

He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without a bond.

Detectives with the Aggravated Assault Unit are investigating.
