Mr. Richard Daniel Dicks, 89 years of age of Fayetteville, NC passed away on February 7, 2024.  He was born on July 2nd, 1934, to the late Russell and Nancy Dicks of Waukegan, Illinois.

Richard lived a gracious life of building family, supporting community and volunteering in many areas with his time. He was loved by many and touched all that he was around even in the shortest of greetings.

He is preceded in death by his fun-loving brother, Donald Dicks of 79 years old.

Born in Illinois, Richard grew up in rural Canada and served in both the Royal Canadian Air Force and US Air Force, first as an aviator and later as an Aircraft Control and Warning Radar Repairman 1st Class. He later spent a long career with IBM, during which he met his beautiful wife in upstate New York amid a training visit to Endicott. They spent much time enjoying the Seattle area while sailing on the Puget Sound in their sailboat, skiing the mountains, and enjoying the outdoors.  They then moved to Boca Raton, FL where they spent the remainder of his career while raising two boys and volunteering at their local church in Coral Springs, FL.  Retiring in South Florida, they ultimately moved to North Carolina to be closer to extended family.  Richard spent a substantial amount of his time volunteering within his neighborhood HOA as President, working with his local church in Fayetteville, NC and splitting summers between North Carolina and Canada. He had a fond love of family, animals, automobiles, motorcycles, and spending time with his late brother in Batchawana Bay, Canada at the family cabins.

Richard is survived by his wife, Dona Dicks and their two sons, Russell of Austin, TX and Douglas of Fayetteville, NC.  He is also survived by his younger sister Rene Habel of Chicago, IL.

A loving husband and father who will always be remembered fondly for the joy he gave the world.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church from 12 to 12:45 pm. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm with Reverend Joel Wise officiating.
