Patsy McKinnon Thames, 86 of Fayetteville passed away, April 11, 2024, at The Carolina Inn.

Patsy was born July 23,1937 to the late Earl Dallas McKinnon and Gertrude Wood McKinnon in Rockfish township of Cumberland County. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glen “Bill” Thames and her sister, Sue McKinnon Priest.

She is survived by son, William Glenn “Bill” Thames, Jr. of Hope Mills, daughter, Lynn Thames Ritter and husband, Nathan of High Point, E. David Thames and wife, Janet of Blythewood, SC, and her four grandchildren, Jonathan, Katie, Ethan, and Gracie.

Patsy graduated from Hope Mills High School attending High Point College before transferring and graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught at the elementary level for 25 years before retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Cumberland Methodist, Hope Mills Methodist, and later Highland Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful servant volunteering at the Alms House, teaching and attending Sunday School, and sharing her faith with others.

Patsy was a graceful southern lady that loved to host and entertain family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, and gardening.

Family will receive friends from 1-2 pm at Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm and burial to follow at Hope Mills Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Highland Presbyterian Church or Alms House of Hope Mills.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at The Carolina Inn, Gentiva Hospice and Rhonda Cranson for their loving care and compassion.
