Priscilla Ann ((Shinehouse)) Cook

Mrs. Priscilla Anne Shinehouse Cook, 90, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was surrounded by family as she went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 16, 2024.  She was born on November 19, 1933, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, the only daughter of Russell Charles and Anna Ella Shinehouse.

Priscilla graduated from Phoenixville High School, then earned a degree in English from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. She married the love of her life, John Joseph Cook, Jr. shortly after graduation and served by his side for more than sixty-eight years. She was the consummate homemaker and mother, caring for her husband and four children as the family crisscrossed the United States during his long, distinguished service in the United States Army. She lived a life marked by quiet faith and consistent service to others. She will be dearly missed by the many whose lives she touched.

Priscilla is survived by her husband of 68 years, John J. Cook, Jr., and her four children, John J. Cook, III and wife Gaye of Fayetteville, Jill Dawn Renfrow and husband Steve of Gastonia, NC, Janell Anne Johnson of Macon, Georgia, and Joy Lynn Thompson and husband Tim of Midland, Georgia. Priscilla also leaves a legacy of loving eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Robert and William Shinehouse.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:00 in the Gathering Hall at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, Fayetteville.  A service celebrating Priscilla’s life will follow at 11:00 in the sanctuary.
