SGM Walton Francis Douglass, US Army, retired, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in Conroe, Texas. Services will be held at Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday, the 6th of April at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Cumberland Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m.

Walton (Doug) was born on January 29, 1931, in Wildwood, NJ to Francis Douglass and Adella Mae Henderson Douglass and resided in Cape May Courthouse, NJ. He graduated from Middle Township High School in 1949. Upon graduation, he joined the US Army. During his long career with the Army, overseas assignments included: Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, and Vietnam. He enjoyed a second career working for Sears, where he met and married Joyce Nixon Berryhill. They were long-time members of Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

Doug enjoyed duck hunting, eeling, clamming, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Doug is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Douglass; his parents; his brother, William Douglass; and his son, Dwayne F. Douglass.

Doug is survived by his children: his daughter, Karen O’Hagan and husband, Stan; son, Dean Douglass and wife, Tami, all of Montgomery, TX; son, David Douglass and wife, Karen of Slidell, LA; daughter-in-law, Zoila Douglass (widow of Dwayne) of Granbury, TX; daughter, Dana Ng and husband, Michael; son, Kevin Douglass all of Richmond, VA; and son, Kritsada Douglass of Sanford, NC. He leaves behind the beloved children of his wife, Joyce: Michael Berryhill and wife, Heidi; Rhonda Woodle and husband, JR; Grover Berryhill and wife, Susana all of Fayetteville; Ricky Berryhill and wife, Karen of Tallahassee, FL; and Chris Berryhill and wife, Kelly of Lexington, SC. Also grieving his loss are his cousins and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren
