A South View football standout and a Cape Fear golfer are the Athletes of the Week in Cumberland County Schools.
Christian Rutledge, South View, football
In last week’s 62-14 win over Gray’s Creek, Rutledge broke the South View single-game rushing record with 306 yards on 27 carries. He rushed for three touchdowns and personally had 17 runs that earned the Tigers first downs.
Alex Serbio, Cape Fear, golf
Serbio shot a 93 to win medalist honors in the final regular season golf match for the United 8 Conference. Her score allowed Cape Fear to complete a sweep of the regular season golf matches in the conference.
