The eighth annual Indigo Moon Film Fest will open with "Black Barbie," a groundbreaking documentary that explores the intersection of merchandise and representation through the life story of Beulah Mae Mitchell, an insider at Mattel., according to a news release.
"Black Barbie" delves into the challenges and triumphs faced by Black women as they strive to have their voices and stories heard, refusing to remain invisible in a world dominated by traditional norms, the release said.
The festival is scheduled Oct. 13-15 in downtown Fayetteville. "Black Barbie" will be shown at Cameo Art House Theatre at 7 p.m. Oct. 13, with a second screening at 1 p.m. Oct. 15, the release said.
