Deputy struck by motorist while directing school traffic

A Cumberland County sheriff's deputy was hit by a vehicle Monday morning while directing school traffic, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. 

The incident was reported about 7:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of Hoke Loop Road. The deputy was directing traffic at New Life Christian Academy, a news release said. 

The deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, the release said.
