Fayetteville police have arrested a man they say fired gunshots at officers on Wednesday as they tried to search a home on Spokane Road, according to a news release issued Thursday.

No injuries were reported.

Darius Jovan Clements, 21, of the 2000 block of Spokane Road, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official; trafficking in methamphetamine; trafficking in opiates; felony maintaining a dwelling for drug sales;  and possession with intent to sell marijuana.

Clements was held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $145,000 secured bond.

About 10 a.m. Wednesday, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Emergency Response Team were executing a high-risk search warrant in connection with a “violent felon,” the department news release said.

Officers outside the residence were shot at by someone inside it.

The officers arrested suspects on the scene without the use of their own firearms.

The investigation was turned over to the Gang and Aggravated Assault units.
