Police on Thursday arrested a man in connection with a weekend hit-and-run fatality on Bragg Boulevard.

Investigators charged Brent Stuart James, 28, of the 6700 block of Matt Hair Road, with felony hit-and-run causing death, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department. James was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Officers were sent just after 2 a.m. Sunday after a report that a pedestrian had been struck on Bragg Boulevard near Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway, police said.

Moises Velasquez, 30, of the 800 block of Country Club Drive, was found in the road, police said. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

Police said Velasques was struck in the roadway as he walked along Bragg Boulevard.

Police said the vehicle involved, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, was seized Monday night.
