Police find handguns, edibles during search of home

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department seized guns, drugs and other items when they executed a “high-risk search warrant’’ June 1 on Spokane Road where a man shot at officers.

The Police Department said in a release that detectives seized:

  • 82 grams of methamphetamine (142 dosage units)
  • 9.4 pounds of edibles
  • 3.5 pounds of marijuana
  • 316 grams of promethazine with codeine
  • 2 handguns
  • $359.

Many of the pills that were seized were advertised as ecstasy but contained methamphetamine, a highly addictive controlled substance, the release said. 

Darius Jovan Clements, 21, of the 2000 block of Spokane Road, was charged with firing a gun at officers.

No injuries were reported.

Clements is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official; trafficking in methamphetamine; trafficking in opiates; felony maintaining a dwelling for drug sales; and possession with intent to sell marijuana.

He was held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $145,000 secured bond.
