Woman killed, 3 children injured in shootings on Sixth Street in Spring Lake

SPRING LAKE — Police are investigating a Monday night shooting that left a woman dead and three children injured, according to a news release.

The shootings were reported at 7:45 p.m. Monday at South Sixth Street and N.C. 210. They found four people in a vehicle who had been shot, the release said.

The woman and three juveniles were taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

The woman was identified as Angela Gwyn, 42, of Cameron. Gwyn had been shot multiple times and was later pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The names of the children were not released. Their injuries are not life-threatening, officials said.

Investigators said the shootings happened in the 200 block of South Sixth Street. 

The said the shootings do not appear to be random but released no additional information.
