Need a dog for a day? Cumberland Animal Services has you covered

Cumberland County residents in need of some puppy love are in luck.  The county’s Animal Services Department has launched a program — Dog’s Day Out — that allows residents to take a sheltered dog out on the town for the day, giving people the option to enjoy the company of a ready pet outside of the facility's environment for companionship and adventure.

Food vendors are being sought for Fayetteville’s first food hall, an open-air food and entertainment venue being developed as Railyard FVL. Partners are being sought to operate food stalls in the entertainment venue, according to a news release. Railyard’s developers hope to recruit eight to 12 small food and beverage businesses to operate stalls.

A man and woman have been charged with cruelty to animals after seven horses were seized from Witts End Quarter Horses, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The seized horses included a 3-month-old foal that “sustained felony-level injuries,” according to a news release.

Cumberland schools keeping tabs on COVID-19 as cases rise countywide

With cases of Covid-19 on the rise in Cumberland County, Cumberland County School officials continue to take precautions to limit the virus’ spread among students. Cape Fear Valley Health reported 108 COVID-related visits to its children’s emergency department between Aug. 27 and Sept. 16. Before August, the reported cases were “none to two per day.” 

Mixed signals and confusion over enforcement of Fayetteville’s no-camping ordinance have some in the city’s homeless community decrying the lack of response to their plight.
