Cumberland County Fair opens with full lineup of special days through Sept. 10

The Cumberland County Fair opened Friday at the Crown Complex and will run through Sept. 10. The fair celebrates the county’s agricultural heritage and combines family fun, informative agricultural exhibits, an art show and entertainment with amusement rides and food booths.

Cumberland County tax bills were mailed to property owners on Aug. 11, according to a county news release. The deadline to pay 2023 property taxes is Jan. 5. After that, a 2% interest charge will be assessed the first month and a 0.75% interest charge each month thereafter, beginning Feb. 1, the news release said.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a heat advisory for three days beginning Saturday. Heat index values will be over 100 degrees on Saturday through Tuesday, according to a Cumberland County news release.
